The second-year QB is far from the only NFL player to enjoy basketball in their free time, but he’s certainly one of the most high-profile. One of his intradivision foes, Patrick Mahomes, went viral for playing basketball two years ago before the Chiefs put that to an end over injury concerns to Mahomes.

The Chargers fell just short of the playoffs this year after a Week 18 loss to the Raiders, but it wasn’t because of anything Herbert did or didn’t do. The 23-year-old completeed 65.9 percent of his passes while ranking second in passing yards (5,014) and third in passing touchdowns (38), setting numerous Chargers’ franchise records in the process.

It’s a long offseason and Herbert is a known golfer in addition his other athletic exploits, so it’s possible he makes his rounds in gyms and pickup games all over the Beaver State before too long.
